Terms of Service

Effective date: May 14, 2025

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lumber logging platform - including the mobile application, REST API, and Node.js SDK - operated by Infinite Token ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Lumber is a cloud-based logging platform for software developers. It provides end-to-end encrypted log storage, a structured logging SDK for Node.js, and a mobile application for viewing and searching logs. Log content is encrypted on your device or server using keys you generate and control - we have no ability to read your log data.

2. Account Registration

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Ensuring your account information remains accurate

Notify us immediately at support@infinitetoken.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

3. Encryption Key Responsibility

Your encryption key is your responsibility. Lumber uses AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption. Your encryption key is generated on your device and never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

This means:

  • If you lose your encryption key, your encrypted log data is permanently unrecoverable. We cannot restore access.
  • You are solely responsible for generating, storing, backing up, and rotating encryption keys.
  • Key rotation does not retroactively re-encrypt existing log entries.

We strongly recommend storing encryption keys in a secrets manager (e.g., AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault, or Doppler) and maintaining documented key management procedures.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or other malicious code
  • Circumvent subscription limits, authentication, or access controls
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Log regulated personal data (health records, payment card data, government IDs) unless you have independently verified compliance with applicable regulations
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these restrictions, with or without notice.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Your subscription automatically renews each month unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from within the Lumber app. Access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the Hobby plan.

Refunds: We do not issue prorated refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact support@infinitetoken.com within 30 days of the charge.

Price changes: We will provide at least 30 days' advance notice of price increases by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Failed payments: If a payment fails, we will retry and notify you by email. Accounts with unpaid balances may be downgraded or suspended after reasonable notice.

6. Subscription Limits and Log Delivery

Each plan includes defined limits on apps, team seats, API keys per app, monthly log volume, and log retention period. These limits are enforced as described in the documentation.

Log delivery is best-effort. We do not guarantee that every log entry will be stored, particularly during high-load periods or when you have exceeded your monthly volume. Do not use Lumber as your sole mechanism for critical audit logging or compliance records.

7. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee any specific uptime for Hobby or Dev plans. We may perform scheduled maintenance with advance notice, and may take the Service offline without notice in the event of a security incident.

Enterprise plans may include SLA commitments specified in a separate agreement.

8. Your Data

Your log data and application content remain yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, transmit, and process your encrypted data solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

We do not claim any ownership over your logs. Because log content is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot access it in any case.

9. Our Intellectual Property

The Lumber platform - including the API, mobile application, Node.js SDK, and all associated software - is owned by Infinite Token. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond the right to use the Service as described here.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any defect will be corrected.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Infinite Token is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages - including loss of data, profits, or business opportunities - arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us in the three months preceding the claim, or (b) $50.

12. Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time from within the Lumber app.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these Terms, including non-payment, abusive conduct, or illegal activity. We will provide reasonable notice where feasible, except when immediate action is required for security or legal reasons.

Upon termination, your data will be retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted, subject to any legal retention obligations.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in English.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice by email. The effective date at the top of this document reflects when the current version was adopted. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
